Oxygen gas detector sensor
An oxygen gas detector sensor is a device for monitoring oxygen concentration in the environment, which works based on electrochemical sensing technology. By measuring the oxygen concentration, we can know the oxygen content in different places, so as to protect people’s life and health.
Working principle
The working principle of the electrochemical Oxygen gas detector sensor is based on a chemical reaction, i.e. redox reaction. The sensor usually consists of two electrodes, a platinum electrode which acts as a reference electrode, and a sense electrode, which is usually made of a metal oxide material, e.g. zirconia.
The surface of the sensor’s sense electrode is coated with a special material that reacts with oxygen. When oxygen in the air comes into contact with the surface of the sensor, it reacts with the material by oxidation. This oxidation reaction causes a change in the state of charge on the sensor surface.
When the oxidation reaction occurs, the state of charge on the sensor surface also changes. This change alters the electrical potential of the sensor surface, which generates an electrical signal between the electrodes of the sensor. This electrical signal can be amplified and processed by a circuit and eventually displayed as an oxygen concentration value.
By measuring the strength of the electrical signal, the concentration of oxygen in the air can be determined. When the oxygen concentration is high, the response is faster and the strength of the electrical signal is higher; when the oxygen concentration is low, the response is slower and the strength of the electrical signal is lower.
Role of Oxygen gas detector sensor
An oxygen gas detector sensor is mainly used to detect the concentration of oxygen in the air to ensure the safety of personnel and the normal operation of equipment. In industrial production, some production processes need to consume oxygen, if the concentration of oxygen is too low, it will affect the production efficiency and product quality, and even cause safety accidents. In the medical field, an Oxygen gas detector sensor is used to monitor the respiratory oxygen concentration of the patient to ensure the life safety of the patient.
Applications
1. In the medical field, such as neonatal wards and operating theatres, the accurate measurement of the Oxygen gas detector sensor can ensure the safety of patients’ lives.
2. In food processing, it can be used to monitor the oxygen concentration in food packaging to ensure freshness and prolong the shelf life of food.
3. In the field of agricultural cultivation, an Oxygen gas detector sensor can be used to monitor the oxygen concentration in the soil to help farmers apply fertilizer and irrigation reasonably.
4. In environmental protection monitoring, it can monitor the air quality, detect the oxygen content in the atmosphere and exhaust gas, and help control the emission of air pollutants.
5. In scientific research experiments, researchers need to accurately measure the oxygen concentration to verify the experimental results.
6. In industrial production, an Oxygen gas detector sensor can monitor the oxygen concentration in factories, warehouses, and other places in real time to prevent safety accidents caused by oxygen deficiency or oxygen enrichment.
